Parent & Child After-School Wellbeing Club
Time to connect, create and grow together.
HollyTree Wellbeing Services offers parent and child wellbeing classes in St Leonards-on-Sea, providing opportunities for families to connect, explore wellbeing and learn practical skills together.
Our sessions draw on the principles of yoga and mindfulness, combining movement, creativity and shared experiences in a relaxed and supportive environment.
What Happens in Our Sessions?
Classes incorporate a variety of activities, including:
Art-based and creative activities
Yoga-inspired movement and body awareness
Mindfulness, breathing and relaxation techniques
Games and imaginative play
Teamwork, cooperation and leadership
Optional, consent-led peer massage activities
Storytelling and creative exploration
Seasonal themes and special activities throughout the year
Sessions are collaborative and flexible, with children and parents encouraged to share their own ideas and inspiration.
Sometimes an activity takes an entirely unexpected direction because the children have a different idea — and that's something I welcome! Giving children a voice and opportunities to lead is an important part of the experience.
Why Parent & Child Wellbeing?
As a child and adolescent counsellor, I often reflect on the limitations of working with a child in isolation.
Children are part of families, relationships and communities, and their emotional wellbeing is closely connected to the world around them.
Through my many years working in children's mental health and wellbeing, I've become increasingly passionate about creating more opportunities to support parents and carers alongside their children.
When families learn and practise wellbeing skills together, those skills have a greater opportunity to become part of everyday family life.
That's what inspired me to develop these classes.
I wanted to create a space where parents and children can step away from everyday pressures, enjoy time together, be creative, play and perhaps be a little silly — while developing skills that support emotional wellbeing.
Skills to Take Home
Alongside the activities, I'll be sharing simple, practical tools that families can use beyond the sessions.
These might include breathing exercises, grounding techniques, mindful movement, relaxation activities and creative ways to recognise and express emotions.
The aim is to introduce accessible approaches that can be woven naturally into family life, helping parents and children find moments of calm, connection and understanding.
Would You Like a Club at Your School?
I'd love to hear from schools interested in offering a Parent & Child After-School Wellbeing Club to their families.
Sessions can be adapted to suit different age groups and school communities, providing an opportunity to support family wellbeing and strengthen connections between children and their parents or carers.
If you'd like to explore bringing a club to your school, please get in touch.
